About this Program
This is a one (1) day skills maintenance course in electrical trade principles designed for qualified overseas electricians who are seeking to have their skills assessed.
Participants should hold an existing electrical qualification from their country of origin and/or have at least seven (7) years’ experience in industry working as an electrician and have passed the documentation review stage for an Offshore Technical Skills Record (OTSR) with Future Skills International.
This course provides a review of the following topics:
Work health and safety and electrical safety concepts
Electrical circuity diagrams and basic switching
Electrical equations such as Ohm’s law, calculating resistance, capacitance, impedance and reactance
Motor control concepts
Motor fault finding
Checking and Testing Installation work
The course is made up of a combination of theory, discussion and small group activities, focusing on underpinning electrical trade principles.
Completion of this course is not a mandatory component of seeking an Offshore Technical Skills Record (OTSR). It is designed to help participants to review their underpinning trade knowledge and principles only.
Participants will receive a Statement of Completion at the end of this course.
